Our Partners

The Washington State Behavioral Health Workforce Development Initiative is a collaborative response between 12 universities and more than 100 community-based behavioral health agencies and tribal health centers across the state.

A partnership approach

The partnership approach will help expand the number and diversity of counselors, family and marriage therapists, and social workers in our state while enhancing career development and enabling a more equitable distribution of services, especially among communities of color and low-income families.

By focusing on education and training innovations at partner institutions around the state, the Washington State Behavioral Health Workforce Development Initiative (WDI) will be able to significantly impact Washington’s workforce challenges in community behavioral health care.

“A successful community behavioral health system supports the mental and physical health of community members and alleviates burdens on other safety net services… This level of commitment will be important as we continue to work towards sustainable funding and competitive compensation for our professionals, so we can ensure the well-being of our communities for years to come.”
